Jerusalem Day is an Israeli national holiday commemorating the reunification of Israel’s ancient capital city Jerusalem, and the nation’s sovereignty over the “Old City” of Jerusalem in the aftermath of the Six Day War fought in June 1967. This marked the first time the Jewish people controlled the entire city since the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple by the Romans in 70 AD.
